yaaaaaaay. more school work. :c this was the first project of the year, a self portrait drawn only with a red, blue, and yellow pencil.
i love my jacket but it was A PAAAAIIIN to draw. I'm happy with the results though. prismacolor is really hard to photograph. sorries. prismacolor pencils - canary yellow, crimson red and violet blue on 18x25 bristol took like 95483069843 hours but I turned it in on time anyways. whee. Edit 2/23: Wowee this piece has won me wonders. It placed 1st in the national Utrecht Self Portrait contest and now it's going on to compete at state level Visual Arts Scholastic Event (aka, Texas UIL art competition for winning prestege and yadda yadda.) FUN STUFF HUH? Edit 8/9: HOLY JUMPIN PAJAMAS BATMAN thanks a bajillion for the Daily Deviation!! Critiques
A self portrait should not only reflect what the person looks but also their personality should shine through, etc, etc.. which the artist has done very well.
Her technique is also very well done, and only with 3 pencils as it states !
The impact is also very effective, as you can tell from first seeing this. The eys also convey a real personality to the artist and her portrait, and not only is the artwork very lifelike, but also dreamlike, in the sense that it really shows what needed to be shown.
This piece is really amazing, and should hopefully be recognized to its full potential, because it definitely deserves it.
